Best Dressed at the CFDA Awards

Monday night was the night we had been patiently waiting for all year. For some, it's the Oscars...for others, the Tonys...but for the fashionistas here at The King Collective, it's the CFDA Fashion Awards. When else can you see all of Hollywood out to celebrate and support their (and our) favorite designers? Each year, there are some real fashion risk-takers, (remember Madonna's Louis Vuitton headpiece last year?) that are talked about for months after!

This year, however was more regal and classic as the red carpet was filled with timeless gowns, clean lines, and natural makeup. Some trends we noticed were light, neutral tones, deep jewel tones, and vivid prints.

Popular designers on the red carpet this year were Marc Jacobs (who went on to win the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award) and Calvin Klein.

The King Collective's top 5 Best Dressed of the night go to:
5. Jessica Biel, in a bright citrusy Diane Von Fursenburg flowing gown.
4. Michelle Trachtenberg, who wore a glistening deep sapphire strapless ball gown by Rebecca Taylor
3. Gwyneth Paltrow, in a black beaded one-armed Michael Kors gown
2. Dakota Fanning, who wore a fun flirty Marchesa mini that complimented her age while still looking elegant
1. Sarah Jessica Parker, who paid homage to the late Alexander McQueen in a pink and purple patterned gown from his final pre-fall collection.

Some other notable fashion we saw strutting down the red carpet was reality star Whitney Port, whose silver David Meister gown looked like it was fit for her figure. Supermodel Iman accepted her Fashion Icon Award in a stunning Giambattista Valli gown with a fitted bodice and daring frilly bottom. Actress, Rachel Weisz was dressed by Jason Wu in a short purple floral dress. Finally, model Dree Hemingway went out on her own and opted for a white Calvin Klein pantsuit which was both classic and fun.

All in all it was a great night for fashion...only 364 days left until the next one...but who's counting? ;-)
