Opening day of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was an exciting one for fashionistas and designers everywhere.  It was the first time the tents opened up at Lincoln Center.  Guests flooded the Designer Desk for check-in around 8PM for entrance to a highly anticipated runway show.  One that had been deemed, "The Most Talked About Show in the IMG New York Fashion Week Calendar",  Richie Rich's POPLUXE runway show, produced by The King Collective.

After the mad rush of people found their way to their seats, the lights dimmed as Vivaldi's "Spring" began to play.  The New York City Ballet emerged with a gracefully choreographed routine, bringing the artistic flair of Lincoln Center to the runway.  Behind them, phrases that Richie Rich felt were evocative of the show, thanks to Eric Vidmar, were projected against the backdrop.

As the ballet whimsically exited the runway, the lights dimmed again and when they came back up, DJ Mia Moretti was behind the turntables spinning, thanks to Audible Difference,  while Caitlin Moe, dressed in a tutu and leotard seductively played the electric violin up and down the runway.

Once again, the lights dimmed and the ballet helped clear the runway.  After a brief silence, a remix of David Bowie's "Fashion" (by who else but Richie Rich!) came blaring over the speakers and Tinsley Mortimer took to the stage and flirted with the guests while showing off her dress, aptly named, "The Tinsley".

One by one, gorgeous girls came strutting down the runway in POPLUXE, showing off a new and different side of Richie Rich.  The dresses are fun and sexy without being over the top.  Walter Steiger's colorful sky high platforms were the perfect compliment to the collection.

From bright pink and purple silks and chiffons

To sweet seersucker trimmed with electric silky satins

Hot pants with a sassy ruffles in the back
Custom T-Shirts that Richie himself adorned with Swarovski Crystals and spray paint

To splatterpainted (personally done by Richie himslef) nude mesh dresses.

The collection is adorned with avant guard and posh pieces from Madstone Design Studio.

After the last POPLUXE dress came down the runway, the show took a provocative turn where the ladies wore colorful bobs, courtesy of Embrace Your Hair, and bikinis while the men were their accessories.  From leather jackets and corsets with leashes and whips to sequined bikini briefs and pants that left little to the imagination (all courtesy of Laura from Screaming Mimis).

Jujubee from Ru Paul's "Drag Race" stomped fiercely down the runway

And then, just when the crowd thought they had seen it all and were expecting Richie Rich to come out and take his final bow, the lights dimmed for the last time.  When they came back up, it was none other than Ellen DeGeneres posed in a POPLUXE suit!  Silver confetti burst into the air, courtesy of John from X-Streamers, as she comedically strutted her stuff down the runway staring down everyone she made eye contact with.

A loud roar came from the audience when they realized Ellen DeGeneres had hit the runway!

After Ellen did her solo walk, she went backstage and as the confetti cannons exploded again, she appeared from behind the silver glitter with Richie Rich!
