Christian Dior couture printemps-été

For his haute couture spring-summer 2011 John Galliano pays tribute to the illustrator Rene Gruau, who signed in the late '40s and early '80s advertising campaigns for Dior
His precise line drawings and spontaneous, are those who most often illustrated the power of iconic New Look Dior. A style that made the success of the brand and revolutionized the fashion codes in 1947. But since this is a fashion show, references to this figure marked the waist with a fitted jacket and a corolla skirt, is exaggerated and pushed to the extreme. A very theatrical version, which revisits the iconic shape designed by Mr. Dior, in the purest style this time from John Galliano.
A tribute to the essence of Dior, which goes beyond the upper echelons of fashion, and echoed a less elitist trend that is gaining more and more ground : that the return to the femme fatale, and to the feminine silhouettes, which was discovered especially in the hit series Mad Men.
