Remarkable Stories: Four Year Old Australian Girl is an Art Prodigy!

Remarkable Stories: Four Year Old Australian Girl is an Art Prodigy!

At four years old, Australian Aelita Andre is already being hailed as a prodigy in the art world with comparisons to legends like Picasso. Aelita opened her first solo art exhibition " Prodigy of Color" on June 4th in NYC. The exhibit features her abstract, expressionist paintings which range in price from $4000 to $10000 each.

The child prodigy and her parents have undergone both immense scrutiny and praise from the press and art critics for the paintings she's created since she was only 20 months old. Aelita's work has been exhibited internationally and she has also appeared on television programs such as 60 Minutes

Now at four years, Aelita has proven that her painting ability is a natural talent, not a childish fluke or something learned, as she embarks on displaying her art here in the United States.

Take a look at the video below of Aelita at her first art exhibition in NYC. For more information about Aelita Andre visit her website aelitaandreart.com

Is Your iPhone Secretly Tracking & Storing Your Location & Travels? YES!

Is Your iPhone Secretly Tracking & Storing Your Location & Travels? YES!

CNN.com and Cnet.com have both published articles informing users about the spy like tracking of the Apple iPhone, 3G enabled iPads and the iPod Touch. Researchers have "found what look like secret files on the iPhone that track user location and store it on the device, without the permission of the device owner."

"Alasdair Allan, senior research fellow in astronomy at the University of Exeter, and writer Pete Warden, who discovered the log file and created a tool that lets users see a visualization of that data...The pair note that the data is unencrypted, giving anyone with access to your phone or computer where backups may be stored a way to grab the data and extrapolate a person's whereabouts and routines.

To help users understand more about the data that's being collected, what the risks are, and what they can do about it, CNET has put together an FAQ."

Individuals who have used the tool created to visualize what data you iPhone has stored about your travel and location details are certainly weirded out by it. "Sam Biddle, an editor at Gizmodo, used the downloadable program to map out his recent whereabouts, which he says was a frightening experience."
This is a map of everywhere I've been for the last months. Everywhere...the map I was able to generate with mapping software the security duo released visualizes of my life since the day I bought my iPhone 4 in July. Everywhere I've been. Bus trips home. Train trips to visit family. Vacations. Places I'd forgotten I'd even gone. Zoom in on that giant blotch over New York, and you can see my travels, block by block..My entire personal and professional life -- documented by a phone I didn't know was also a tracking device.
If you own one of these Apple devices and would like to visualize what information it's stored on you since you purchased it please visit the following website: http://petewarden.github.com/iPhoneTracker/

The True Cost of Blackberries, Iphones & Ipads is War and Human Lives!

The True Cost of Blackberries, Iphones & Ipads is War and Human Lives!

Help Raise Awareness: We are sharing the compelling video and article below with our readers in order to bring awareness to the fact that the electronic gadgets, video games, smartphones and computers we prize so much are helping to fund a brutal war and genocide in the African Republic of Congo.

Now that you know the truth think twice before shelling out $400 plus to purchase these items. You can make a difference, you can help end the war. Demand accountability from manufacturers like Apple, Intel and RIM, demand that they use conflict free minerals to manufacture their products. Visit raisehopeforCongo.org and add your name to the petition.

Here are a few excerpts from the original article by NY Times Writer Nicholas D. Kristoff. Full Story here.

"An ugly paradox of the 21st century is that some of our elegant symbols of modernity — smartphones, laptops and digital cameras — are built from minerals that seem to be fueling mass slaughter and rape in Congo...

I’ve never reported on a war more barbaric than Congo’s, and it haunts me. In Congo, I’ve seen women who have been mutilated, children who have been forced to eat their parents’ flesh, girls who have been subjected to rapes that destroyed their insides. Warlords finance their predations in part through the sale of mineral ore containing tantalum, tungsten, tin and gold. For example, tantalum from Congo is used to make electrical capacitors that go into phones, computers and gaming devices.
Electronics manufacturers have tried to hush all this up. They want you to look at a gadget and think “sleek,” not “blood.”

Yet now there’s a grass-roots movement pressuring companies to keep these “conflict minerals” out of high-tech supply chains. Using Facebook and YouTube, activists are harassing companies like Apple, Intel and Research in Motion (which makes the BlackBerry) to get them to lean on their suppliers and ensure the use of, say, Australian tantalum rather than tantalum peddled by a Congolese militia.

Please help make a difference share this video and article with your friends, co-workers and family members.

In the Know " Spotlight on Chilean Earthquake"

Earthquake in Chile shifted Earth's Axis and shortened Earth Days

The 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Chile on February 27th, 2010 was so strong that it broke off a large piece of the earth's crust and slightly shifted the earth from its axis, as a result shortening the earth day.

According to NASA a complex computer model's preliminary calculation shows that Earth's days should have shortened by 1.26 microseconds (a microsecond is one millionth of a second).

NASA explained that while this change may not be noticeable in everyday life, it is permanent. At least 723 people died in the Chilean earthquake and more than half a million houses were destroyed.

IN THE KNOW: Vancouver Olympics 2010 Highlights

Vancouver Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony

It was a night of spectacular graphics, creative lighting, artistic vision, cultural symbolism, athletic talent and entertainment. But it was also a night of sombre remembrance with the ceremony occurring only a few hours after the death of Georgian Luge athlete Nodar Kumaritashvili during a practice run yesterday morning.

The Georgian Olympic team received a standing ovation from the crowd of over sixty thousand upon entering the stadium and a one minute silence was observed during the ceremony to honour his memory.

The Vancouver Olympics while marred by tragedy also relished the dreams of the athletes who will be competing over the next few days all hoping for Olympic Gold. And so in true Olympic spirit 'Let the Games Begin'.
