He may be dead and gone but Michael Jackson's music career is far from over. The King of Pop's estate recently signed a $250 million contract with Sony Music to release Michael's unreleased recordings and back catalogs through to 2017.
Rob Stringer, chairman of Columbia/Epic Label Group, a division of Sony, says:
Wow, it seems the king of pop is signing bigger contracts now, than when he was alive! We've got a new Elvis Presley on our hands.“It’s not just a record deal. We’re not just basing this on how many CDs we sell or how many downloads. There are also audio rights for theater, movies, computer games. I don’t know how an audio soundtrack will be used in 2017, but you’ve got to bet on Michael Jackson in any new platform.”
