VILLIONAIRE A/W 2011 by RICHIE RICH, Design Director ANGELO LAMBROU

Thursday February 10, 2011

As soon as Richie Rich's VILLIONAIRE show was announced earlier this year, people were abuzz wondering what he would do, what the show would be like, and who would be his special guest.  Thursday night, we all found out...and we were treated to QUITE the show!

This season, Richie decided he wanted to do something different.  Instead of having the show be "invite only" to open the show up to his fans and sold tickets to benefit the charities DoSomething.org and CookiesForKidsCancer.org.

Upon arrival backstage, we spotted thirty-seven tailored looks from design director ANGELO LAMBROU prepared by stylist MIA MORGAN.
Edward Tricomi of WARREN-TRICOMI and his team were hard at work creating 1920's-style finger curls and punk-inspired bouffants using L'OREAL PROFESSIONNEL products.  Bright colors and glitter highlighted the hairstyles.

BRIAN C. HAWKINS and his amazing team including Jeremy Matthews transformed the models into Villionaires with strong smoky eyes and super glossy lips using MIRABELLA cosmetics.  Glitter and black matte lipstick created a look 'a la St. Mark's Place 1985' for the second part of the show.

ALL of the models received a KING manicure, courtesy of CHINA GLAZE nail technicians!

KASHKAVAL supplied platters of food for all of the people backstage and mini cupcakes were brought in from BAKED BY MELISSA!

Guests arrived and took photos before taking their seats at THE HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM.  Among the crowd was the legendary fashion icon PATRICIA FIELD, pop singer KAT DE LUNA, nightlife impresarios ZELDA KAPLAN and LADY BETTY, New York Social Diary's ROGER WEBSTER and JASON GRANT (who arrived with someone who may or may not have been Rod Stewart).  As the guests took their seats, they were greeted by the musical skills of DJ CHACHI who spun music from his latest mix FASHION INDIE MIX V2.

The show opened with model and opera singer JULIE REUMERT singing in acapella while the LOVELY WANDERLUST's EMILY BACHE gracefully played the harp (SCOTT KOSIOREK and ABIGAIL BRESLIN, also from LOVELY WANDERLUST gazed proudly on from their front-row seats).  Both ladies were dressed in ANGELO LAMBROU COUTURE gowns.

Next up the HARLEM JAMES GANG took the stage to perform.  Their energetic number really got the crowd moving.

The models hit the runway full speed in 1920's and 1930's-themed dresses and separates with a hint of East Village edge.  The palette of plums, navys, and beige were complimented by brightly colored HUE stockings and glamorous WALTER STEIGER heels.
Tinsley Mortimer opened the show, making it the 2nd season in a row!

In true Richie Rich style, the second set was a much racier/glammed out runway show where the boys and girls were stripped down to their sequined underwear (and glitter everywhere else!) while OFFICIAL HANK and RICHIE RICH himself performed a boy-band style.

After the models walked the finale, the crowd was waiting in anticipation to see who Richie would end his show with.  As the lights went on, Richie emerged from one side of stage and JENNI FARLEY ("JWOWW") of the Jersey Shore met him halfway, as they strutted their stuff down the runway (and a close look immediately warranted the 'WOWW' in her name!)

JWOWW wore a custom beaded Angelo Lambrou gown with killer sparkly WALTER STEIGER wedge heels, very reminiscent of something Lady Gaga would wear!
They received a standing ovation (which was initiated by none other than Pat Field) and the crowd went wild!

After the house lights went on, the crowd rushed the runway to take photos with Richie and mingle with the designers.

This certainly was a night to remember and people will be talking about VILLIONAIRE for a long time! :)

xoxo,
KING
